    Procyon

Procyon were from Almada, Lisbon. Formed in 1982 by João Vasco Marques guitar and Paulo McVictor bass. On December 1984 Mané Ribeiro drums and Tó-Zé Russo vocals completed the first Procyon line up. From November to December 1987 Procyon entered the Espírito Santo studios, located in Almada, in a total of 17 hours to record, mix and produce, their first demo tape titled "Obsessed By Time". The tape included 4 songs: "Obsessed By Time", "Claustrophobic", "Blessed By a Dead King" and "Ritual Of Agony". To promote the demo they performed live on December 20th at the Rock Rendez Vous. In June 5th 1988 they would returne to the RRV and in October 15th they headline the first Heavy Metal Festival in Fogueteiro, with Braindead and Thormenthor. After this high point and promising career of the group, another major event affects the stability and evolution of the group, when two of the founding members, Vasco and Paulo, decided to leave the band. After several auditions, Daniel bass and Jorge Facas guitar joins Procyon. With the line-up consisting of Mané Ribeiro drums, Daniel bass, Jorge Facas guitar, Pedro Silva guitar and Nuno Torres vocals, new material is made, resulting in the 3 track CD EP "Read My Lips". Released in 1994 by Morgana Records, included the tracks "Read My Lips (I Won`t Lie)", "Wrong Song" and "Waterballgrey". With Ramp and Web the band played live in Porto at the secundary school Soares dos Reis. Procyon would performe their last concert in Santarém. During compositions, musical differences begin to divide the band and at the end of 1995 Procyon splits.

    Drakkar

The band Drakkar began their quest in September 1990 in Miratejo – Seixal, Portugal. They started by creating some music in the basis of heavy metal since those were the main influences of the band’s founding members: Nelson Silva (Guitar), Paulo Almeida (Bass), and Pedro Arroja (Vocals). After some time the band’s first alignment was completed with Nino Brancal (Guitar) and Pedro Pinto (Drums). Drakkar had their very first concert at Alfeite Gymnasium, on the 1st of February 1992. From that time onwards the band participated in many other concerts and music contests, where two prominent 1st places were obtained. Along with this musical activity the band alignment went trough several alterations, where the contributions of some musicians such as, Carlos Ferreira, Carlos Rodrigues and Paulo Gabriel (Drums), Miguel Arroja, Hugo Lopes, Hugo Fernandes e Francisco “F” (Guitar), Paulo Almeida, Carlos Santos and Sérgio Rosa (Bass) must be enhanced. Meanwhile some demo tapes were recorded only for internal consuming (friends, family and some local radios). After many great battles the band’s present alignment is the following: Nelson Silva (Guitar), Pedro Arroja (Vocals), Pajó (Drums) and Alex Duarte (Bass). With this alignment Drakkar are presently in studio preparing the recording of their first CD which will contain all the recent compositions as well as one or two classical Drakkar songs. Finally the band would like to emphasize that Drakkar is a Traditional Heavy Metal band trying to play a simple heavy metal style with a strong melodic component and especially with a lot of feeling.

    Cruzumana

Coming from the South Bay of the Tejo, Cruzumana are musically marked by complex four-voice games and the crudity of crusading rock with ethnic and atmospheric environments. This collective bases its poetry on a fierce defense of the Portuguese language applied to stories that describe the feeling of the human being in experiences that belong to all of us. Following the albums “E tu... tudo bem?!?” (2006) and "Mais que um esboço" (2009), which include numerous interactive components developed by Rosa Castela (namely a virtual book with texts by Susana Moura and illustrations by João Pires and Roger Jordão), Cruzumana offer two show formats (Electric and Semi-Acoustic) involving multimedia, video, contemporary dance and traditional percussion, as well as their rock crudeness.

    Thormenthor

Considered the brightest star of the portuguese early death metal scene, this band hailing from Almada, built its cult status upon a strange sort of technical death metal. Contemporary to such monsters as Cynic, Atheist and Gorguts, this portuguese band dared to make a statement on a trully obscure and underground scene as it was the portuguese metal scene back in the early 90's. While some reminiscenses to Voivod's Dimension Hatross are of notice, the musicality of this band is heavier in the death metal sense but as revolutionary and daring. Unfortunately, besides amongst very restricted groups, this band never got the recognition it deserved. But to those who like groundbreaking tech/jazzy death metal with a bizarre sounding twist, please get to know these guys!

    Braindead

Prior to Da Weasel, João Nobre founded and played guitar at Braindead, Almada's band that started playing Trash Metal but, upon reaching the first album, alienated part of the followers with influences of Funk Metal and Rap, styles that would flourish throughout the world. its splendor throughout the 1990s. "Blend" was the first album of a Portuguese band to sing in English, edited by Valentim de Carvalho. The album is well received and makes Braindead a band with a good acceptance from the public. Then follows the next album, “Room Landscapes” 1994, the band's last record and received in a less warm way. In 1996 the group would bring down the backdrop of their career for good. Noble John (Jay Jay Neige) goes to Da Weasel and Vasco Vaz in the Mão Morta.
